CSF Leak stopped and ear healing

My husband saw three different doctors within the last month because no one was listening to him when he told them clear and yellow liquids were pouring out of his ear and one time when he bent over - out of his nose!   I stayed up late reading information (mostly out of Europe) about these surgeries and complications and we saw that if he would stay on bed-rest for 7-10 days it could fix itself.  He laid around for most of November and by the last week in November it had finally stopped!  Thank God! :)  He went back to work again December 3 and has had no complications since this happening.

Side note:  He was originally told he could not get his ear wet - ever.  Now the doctors have all said he can?  Confusing!!!?????!!!! 

If anyone has any comments on whether you can get water in your ear (swimming, fishing..etc) after a Canal Wall Down Mastoidectomy, please leave us a comment!  Thanks so much!

2 month check up on Canal Wall Down Mastoidectomy with possible CSF Leak

Having clear liquid drain out of ear at night - possibly cerebrospinal fluid leakage.  Dr's all say ear looks fine and aren't worried about the drainage at this point.   Will update again if it changes.

1 month and 11 days later

My husband had some unnecessary infection caused by the P.A. not removing all of the packing and it got infected.  He had to go on antibiotics and was in pain for a week or so.  He's recovered from that.  Feels like he hears a little out of it....mostly like a crackly speaker.

Will have a checkup in two weeks. I'll post again.

Today, my husband is having his 4th ear surgery in the last three years.  He has also had two sinus surgeries as well.  

He has had chronic ear infections since he was a child.  When we were first married, he saw many doctors who treated his ear infections but didn't get past the surface to discover why he was having so many.  

After a CT scan showed infection in his masroid bone, We finally went to ENT specialists in Salt Lake City where he after a microscopic view of his ear, along with a lot of puss and junk being sucked out of his ear, it was discovered he had no ear drum as well as cholesteatomas which were causing the infections.  

He had his first surgery in 2010 with Dr. Palmer but it was unsuccessful and he continued to have infection.   

He was referred to Dr. Yorguson whom we love and had two more ear surgeries ...one to scrape out more infection and repair the ear drum and the next to repair the hearing bones and put in prosthetic bones.   

We moved to Texas and he began seeing Dr. Lance Jackson at The Ear Institute of Texas for followup visits.  Dr. Jackson sent him for a CT scan which showed his ear bone had not healed properly and would need to be repositioned.  He also discovered more of the pesky cholesteotomas which had grown back.  

He is performing a tympanoplasty and a possible canal wall down mastoidectomy if it's needed.  I will post more about the outcome and add more info as time allows.
